Artificial Patents
A New Perspective of the USPTO
Prof. Tabrez Ebrahim, Lewis & Clark Law School

The Oregon Patent Law Association (OPLA) and the Lewis & Clark Intellectual Property Student Organization (IPSO) invite you to join us for a CLE presentation by Prof. Tabrez Ebrahim.

Prof. Ebrahim will discuss the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in attaining patents and the ways that the USPTO should evolve to address that development. Rather than doctrinal changes and or new standards, he argues that the USPTO should evolve, to avoid “artificial patents”—or patents granted by the USPTO that are away from the traditional aims of U.S. patent law.

He joined Lewis & Clark’s law faculty in 2022, and his primary scholarship concerns patent law and law and technology. He is a registered U.S. patent attorney. Light refreshments and drinks will be served at 5:00 pm with the presentation to begin at 5:30pm.
